Job Description

Ø  A Department Manager- Cosmetics develops and motivates department associates. Develops the department’s sales growth by monitoring and improving the department’s level of customer service and visual presentation. Primary job responsibilities of a Department Manager – Cosmetics include the following:

Ø  Observes, assists and motivates cosmetics associates in providing excellent customer service daily; sets an example for others to follow.
Ø  Trains cosmetic associates in application techniques, sales technique, product knowledge, and department and store policies and procedures as needed.
Ø  Assesses cosmetic associates’ performance and writes and conducts performance reviews, fairly and timely. Follows all disciplinary procedures when necessary.
Ø  Provides feedback to department associates on selling and account statistics on a bi-weekly basis, as well as other performance observations as needed.
Ø  Addresses concerns to the department in a timely manner; develops and implements solutions, reporting to Store Management as necessary.
Ø  Assists and monitors cosmetic associates’ use of the Cosmetic Follow-up Program to improve the quality of service the customer receives, and to increase sales.
Ø  Establishes effective relationships with cosmetic account executives.
Ø  Executes all duties of a Cosmetic associate and Cosmetic Counter Manager.
Ø  Must be available to work a rotation of day, evening, and weekend shifts. May be scheduled to work 6 days a week and up to 8 hours a day during peak department business times.
Ø  In conjunction with Merchandise Managers, plan and execute floor moves, merchandise placement and sales promotion set-up.
Ø  Ensure all procedures, policies, exposure standards and shortage awareness are thoroughly understood.
Ø  Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.


Skills Summary

Ø  A minimum 5 years of related retail management experience
Ø  Ability to empower and develop a team
Ø  Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Ø  Highly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
