BCG’s Principal Investors and Private Equity Practice is seeking a strong candidate to support the Principal Investors sector leadership in the development of our business globally. The Sector Manager will work closely with the global and regional sector leaders and leadership team of the practice (esp. the Global Practice Management Director (GPMD), Global Sector Leads for Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Plans, and Family Office, and with other Industry and Functional Practice Areas (PAs)). The main focus of this role is to drive our commercial agenda along our main business lines Fund strategy & operations, Transaction Services and Portfolio Acceleration. Meaning the individual in this role will help to track the business activity, will stay up to date on developments with the Principal Investors Industry and our clients. Playing an activist Program Management Office (“PMO”) role in driving work with our priority clients is core to the role.


Driving the Principal Investors Business with Global and Regional Leadership
  • Account planning: Manages annual account planning exercise for top PI clients, conducts regular check ins with Client Coverage teams and drives the agenda forward (“PMO”)
  • Commercial plan: Helps identify relevant markets for business expansion. Maintains lead lists for each key geography (including market intelligence), monitors the state of the business (e.g. lead flow, proposal pipeline and sold cases), tracks and maintains overview of BCG past commercial activity (pitch calls as well as sold work) together with the PIPE Knowledge team leaders. Leads specific commercial campaigns
Manage the Principal Investors Sector with the Global and Regional Leadership
  • People affiliation and plan: involved in further building the PI teams, eg. Driving affiliation, supporting staffing and driving the people agenda, e.g. mobility programs and PTO roll-outs, by working closely with HR, the People team, the PIPE Practice and the regions
  • Expertise: In collaboration with the Knowledge Team leaders, map expertise across the firm, identify gaps and take action to create/update relevant intellectual capital, proprietary data/products and collects and distributes selling materials and pitches. Closely involved and driving PA wide initiatives
  • Leadership Team management: support the three Global PI Sector Leaders in the ongoing, professional management of the sector. Prepare sector and practice leadership meetings, calls and discussions; assist with the development, execution and tracking of the sector strategic and operative plan
Engage and drive sector content development initiatives
  • Lead content development initiatives; support development of topic agenda together with topic leaders in PI; engage as part of T1s (on module work or overarching project lead)
  • Support proposals where possible
  • Work closely with the PIPE Knowledge team to align regional and topic priorities; exchange on content and client activities; engage on KT related calls and meetings and help drive broader KT network and product/service portfolio, support knowledge management and knowledge curation


Education and Experience

  • 8-10+ years of relevant industry experience or 4+ years consulting experience
  • Advanced degree with strong academic achievements in business, economics, finance or similar
  • Experience as a consultant or professional services is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in BCG in a consulting or CKA role is a plus
  • Highly knowledgeable and analytic

Our business management and operations team members work to ensure that BCG is running smoothly, efficiently, and productively. We are made up of executive and administrative (or case team) assistants, visual service artists, receptionists, facilities staff, and the team leaders and office coordinators who manage these operations and business management jobs.
