Reporting to the CIO and based at head office, The Head of Technology – Delivery meets the demands of the IT projects portfolio. The role is be critical in shaping the approach in order to determine which projects should be undertaken by the department and to oversee, report on and ensure the successful delivery of these projects to a defined scope, quality, time and budget. This role is responsible for implementing a consistent projects methodology and framework and ensuring that all project teams adhere to this. This role requires excellent stakeholder and sponsor communications and strong resource and financial management within a program.

Financial / Operations / Customer / People

  • Supports the key strategic initiatives of Multiplex IT by leading the development of the overall approach for the program, its major time frames and the definition of its major deliverables
  • Work with the Head(s) of Technology to ensure that the IT capability roadmaps are deliverable through the IT portfolio and that finance cases for proposed investments are appropriately scoped
  • Ensures that all projects have been properly planned and that resources are available in order to set the foundations for successful project and program delivery. Ensures and balances the availability of the required resources, skills and competencies across project teams within the program
  • Establishes appropriate project governance and methodology and ensures the uptake of this across by project teams. Continues to monitor adherence to and effectiveness of this methodology and governance
  • Directs the creation and maintenance of the required project and program documentation and artifacts
  • Develops and controls the program budget and manages expenditure within agreed spending plans
  • Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications and reporting, including providing project updates in relevant forums
  • Oversight of and reporting on the program projects’ execution, their progress compared with the plan and the production of agreed deliverables
  • Fosters an environment of collaboration amongst project managers and project teams, encouraging diversity of thought. Inspires and motivates project team members
  • Leads regular interactions with relevant stakeholders to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the program outcome
  • Leads reviews with the executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify organic or specific program needs and changes, and directs the development of appropriate approaches to address
  • Monitors and coordinates dependencies across the projects in the program and resolves conflicts
  • In involved in the establishment of a framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers
  • Supports and facilitates agenda setting for program committee/board meetings

Experience

  • Proven program management experience on strategic programs with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Programme Manager, delivery leader, or related discipline
  • Extensive experience of leading multi-stream programmes in complex, multiple stakeholder, matrix managed technology environments
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the program objectives, inspire and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with business objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and promote the program goals and objectives to the business, as well as technical leadership
  • Strong business acumen, including industry- and domain-specific knowledge of the organisation and its departments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills focused on collaboration and building relationships within diverse teams across the organisation
  • Proven influencing and negotiation experience across a range of stakeholders. The ability to vary styles of interaction to match the needs of various stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Ability to develop programs and deliver them within financial and resource constraints
  • Ability to be perform well within ambiguity and tell a clear story using data and insights
  • Experience of multiple project/program management methodologies, such as PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, Kanban
  • Knowledge of project planning tools, such as Microsoft Project, with evidence of practical application
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies. Familiarity with industry trends and innovation

Mandatory

  • Recognised project management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, CSM, PSM)
  • Conversant in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, procedures, and roles.
  • Conversant in IT architecture frameworks, processes, procedures, and roles.
  • Conversant in IT governance policies, processes, and procedures.

Highly advantageous

  • Recognised business change qualification (e.g. MSP)
  • Degree qualified
